1. Scope
This policy explains how To TV ("the app", "we", "our", or "us"), a Metechi product, handles information when you transfer content, mirror a screen, control an Android TV, pair devices, make an optional purchase, or contact support.
2. Local transfers
Files, folders, text, links, and screen data are transferred directly between the devices you choose on the same local network. To TV does not upload this content to our licensing server. Received files are stored on the receiving device and remain there until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
3. Pairing and device information
To connect trusted devices, To TV creates random device identifiers, cryptographic public/private keys, pairing tokens, and local TLS certificates. Private keys, pairing tokens, and trusted-device details are stored locally using platform-provided secure storage where available. Other devices on the local network may receive the device name, local network address, public key, capabilities, and pairing status needed for discovery and connection.
4. Camera, microphone, and screen capture
- The camera is used only when you choose to scan a pairing QR code. QR data is processed on the device and is not uploaded to us.
- Screen mirroring begins only after you start it and accept the operating system's screen-capture prompt.
- Microphone access may be used when you choose to include audio in a mirroring session.
- Mirrored screen and audio data are sent to the selected device and are not recorded or stored by our licensing server.
5. Android TV remote and AccessibilityService
The optional To TV accessibility service lets the Android TV apply navigation, back, home, volume, and media commands received from a paired device. To TV shows an in-app explanation before opening the system accessibility settings. The service is not used to read, store, profile, or send the content of other apps to Metechi. You can disable the service at any time in Android TV settings.
6. Purchases and licensing
Optional Pro purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your full card or bank details. To validate, restore, protect, and revoke entitlements, the app and our licensing server may process:
- Store name, product identifier, transaction/order identifier, purchase token or verification data, purchase state, and purchase date.
- A random TV identifier, TV public key, purchase challenge, license identifier, and activation status.
- A cryptographic hash of verification data and hashed recovery codes. Recovery codes themselves should be stored securely by the user.
- Google Play real-time purchase notifications, including refund and revocation events.
A pending transaction does not activate Pro until the store confirms the purchase.
7. Server and security logs
When the app contacts our licensing service, standard server logs may include the IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, and technical error information. We use this information to secure the service, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain reliability. Transfer content is not included in licensing requests.
8. How information is used
- Provide device discovery, secure pairing, local transfer, mirroring, and remote-control features.
- Validate purchases, restore Pro access, handle pending payments, and process refunds or revocations.
- Protect the app and backend from fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
To TV does not contain advertising, and we do not sell personal data.
9. Service providers and disclosure
We may use Google Play for app distribution and billing, Google Cloud Pub/Sub for purchase-status notifications, hosting and database providers for the licensing service, and email providers for support. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect users, the service, or our legal rights.
10. Retention and deletion
Local content can be deleted from the receiving device or by clearing app data/uninstalling. Pairing data can be removed by disconnecting the device or clearing app data. Pending purchase intents expire automatically. License and transaction records may be retained as needed to restore purchases, handle refunds, prevent fraud, and meet legal, accounting, and platform obligations. Security logs are retained only as reasonably necessary for operations and abuse prevention.
Because core use does not require an account, there may be no user profile to delete. You may contact us about information associated with a support request or purchase; we may ask for information needed to locate and verify the record.
11. Security
To TV uses encrypted local connections, cryptographic device identities, secure platform storage, signed license data, HTTPS for licensing requests, rate limits, and restricted backend access. No system can guarantee absolute security, so keep recovery codes and devices protected.
12. Children's privacy
To TV is a general utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when app features, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted here with a new last-updated date.
